Terms & Conditions for Clients Hiring Equipment
These terms and conditions form an integral part of your hire contract with Edge 2
Edge UK Limited trading as Edge 2 Edge, or Roofbox2hire.com, or
Tent2hire.co.uk, hereinafter referred to as the "Company". The Company regis-
tered number is 5824861 and the Registered Office is Unit 9 Oakwood Trade
Park, Gatwick Road, Crawley West Sussex RH10 9AZ . VAT No. 880 0575 23.
Definitions
The "Hirer" is the person whose name & address appears at the top of the hire
contract of which these terms and conditions form a part. The hirer must be at
least 18 years old. The Hirer accepts full legal liability for all the equipment listed
on the hire contract(s)irrespective of whether the equipment is for the Hirer’s per-
sonal use, or that of another member of his/her party, booking under the same
contract booking number.
"Equipment" includes skis, bindings, ski boots, ski poles, snowblades, snow-
boards, snowboard boots and bindings, clothing, ski, snowboard & boot bags,
snow chains, roof racks and roof boxes & any other item(s) hired by the Hirer from
the Company. The hire period is the date from which the equipment is
collected\received by the hirer from the Company or it's agents, until the date that
the hirer is due to return the equipment. Both these dates are clearly stated on the
hire contract.
Conditions of Hire
1.You must bring this form with you to collect your equipment, together with a
satisfactory form of identification, e.g. passport. The Company reserves the right
not to hand over any equipment if the Hirer cannot properly identify himself\herself.
In these circumstances no refund will be given.
2.The Hirer accepts full personal liability for the equipment from the time he\she
receives it from a member of the Company's staff or agents, until it is returned to
the Company at the end of the hire period. The Hirer is protected against acciden-
tal damage to skis, snowboards, bindings and boots under the Company's Stan-
dard Cover Scheme. However, to obtain cover for loss or theft of equipment, hirers
are advised to purchase Gold Cover. (See paragraph 6 below). Furthermore, dam-
age, loss or theft of hire clothing, vehicle roof racks, roof boxes and car chains are
not covered under Standard Cover. The Company reserves the right to charge the
hirer the full replacement cost of such equipment in the event that it becomes dam-
aged, lost or stolen during the period of hire, or until it has been returned to the
Company. The replacement costs are as follows: -
Skis: - Standard & Premium Skis/Snowboards £250, Prestige Skis £400, VIP skis
£500. Snow blades £200. Prestige Snowboards £500 (see also paragraph 6).
Junior skis £80, Junior Performance skis £140. X-Country Skis £100
Boots: - Premium Ski /Snowboard & X-County Boots £80, Prestige and VIP Ski &
Snowboard Boots £150. Junior Boots £30. Junior Performance Boots £60.
Other equipment:- Ski Poles £15, Ski & Snowboard Bags £20, Boot Bags £10,
Roof Boxes:- Pacific 500 £220 Pacific 700 £260 Atlantis 200 £260 Atlantis 600
£220 Atlantis 780 £340 Atlantis 900 £400. Ocean 100 £150 Ranger 90 £170

Altering Equipment – (This does not apply to the re-adjustment of bindings, nor
the normal wear and tear of the equipment during use). The fabric of the
Company’s equipment must not be altered in any way without the prior consent of
the Company. This includes the stretching and permanent alteration to the liners or
shells of ski or snowboard boots and the re-drilling of binding holes in skis or snow-
boards. The Hirer will be liable to the Company for the replacement cost of the
equipment, (see paragraph"2" above), in the event that such alterations are made.
3. Collecting Equipment.The Hirer or his\her agent will sign a receipt for the
equipment on collection. By signing, the Hirer or his\her agent acknowledges that
they have inspected the equipment & confirms that it is the equipment ordered &
that it is in satisfactory working order and condition.
4. Amendments.
The company will allow the hirer to change the details once free of charge after
you have completed your booking, subject to the equipment still being available.
The company will not accept and changes 7 days prior to your departure. All
amendments must be in writing and sent by post, fax or e-mail to the Company.
Any subsequent amendments will be charged at £10 per amendment.
5. Cancellations.
If the booking was made by Telephone or the Internet then the Hirer may cancel
the contract up to ten days after the contract was made and will receive a full re-
fund of monies paid, provided that the cancellation is in writing and sent by post,
fax or e-mail to the Company.Where the equipment has already been dispatched
by carrier or to the location the hirer is due to pick up, then the Hirer will be liable
for the costs of the dispatch and return of the goods. In such circumstances, the
equipment must be returned unused to the Company, and within seven days of its
receipt, or normal hire charges will apply.
Fees
If the Hirer has visited any of the Companies premises and arranged their booking
or the cancellation is 10 days after the booking was made over the telephone or
Internet, the cancellation must be in writing and sent by post, fax or e-mail to the
Company. The following charges will apply: -
1)No refunds will be made for cancellations made within seven days from the
commencement of the hire period.
2)Cancellations made between 8 to 20 days before departure are subject to a fee
20% of the value of the hire contract, (subject to a minimum charge of £10).
3)Cancellations made 20 days or more, before the commencement of the hirer
period are subject to an administration charge of £10.
6. Standard Cover(Damage to Equipment & Boot Comfort)
In the event that the hirer finds the boots to be uncomfortable, or the hirer’s skis,
snowboard(s) or boots either suffer damage, (other than willful damage by the Hir-
er, or on his/her behalf by a third party), then the Hirer may re-hire alternative
equipment from a local hire shop in the resort. On production of a clearly written
receipt, evidencing such re-hire, together with the name address & telephone num-
ber of the hire shop, the Company will refund the Hirer on the following basis: -
6.1)The refund calculation is based strictly on the hire charges paid originally to
the Company and not those charged by the resort chop.
6.2)The Hirer will only be charged for the number of days that they actually used
the Company’s equipment up to the date of re-hire in the resort, calculated as a
percentage of the total number of days specified in the hire contract.
6.3)Note that Standard Cover only relates to the re-hire of skis, snowboards,
bindings, and boots. Standard and Gold cover does not entitle the hirer to pur-
chase alternative equipment.
Standard and Gold Cover does not apply to vehicle roof racks, roof boxes or car
chains.
Gold Cover(Damage & Loss\Theft of Equipment & Extended Boot
Comfort Guarantee)
In the event that the Hirer finds the hired boots to be uncomfortable, or the hired
skis, snowboard(s),boots or clothing suffer damage, (as defined in Standard Cover
above), or this equipment becomes lost or stolen then, subject to the following con-
ditions, the Hirer may re-hire from a local hire shop in the resort and the Company
will refund to the hirer the charges levied by the resort shop provided that:-
6.4)The Hirer must provide the Company with a clearly written receipt (see Stan-
dard Cover above for details), evidencing re-hire in the resort.
6.5)In the case of lost or stolen equipment an official police report must also be
provided. Where this is not possible, a written report must be obtained from the
hirer’s tour operator’s representative detailing the circumstances of the loss and
stating why the police have refused to issue a report.
6.6)The equipment that the Hirer re-hires in the resort must be of a comparable
standard to the equipment originally hired from the Company.
6.7)Note that a deposit of £250 is taken in respect of all snowboards, and that in
the event of loss\theft of a snowboard, the deposit is not recoverable, even when
Gold Cover has been taken.
6.8)Gold cover does not entitle the hirer to purchase alternative equipment, in the
event that they are unable to hire it in the resort.
7.It is possible that the equipment which you have pre-booked may have been lost
or damaged by the previous hirer. In this event, the Company will use every en-
deavor to provide the Hirer with equipment of at least the same quality & value as
that ordered by the Hirer. Should the Hirer not wish to take the alternative equip-
ment offered, he\she will be entitled to a full refund in respect of the missing equip-
ment. However, the Company accepts no further liability.
7.1 Deliveries to the hirer in our French resort areas. The company will endeavor
to deliver your equipment within 4 hours of your arrival time. A collection time will
be arranged at the time of delivery.
From time to time, the Company may at its own discretion offer additional benefits
to a Hirer in the circumstances detailed in paragraph "6" above. Such offers are
normally published in the Company’s current promotional literature and/or on its
Internet site. Where such offers are made, they will be honored by the Company.
The Company however reserves the right to withdraw such offers at any time and
without notice.
8. Returning Equipment
8.1)Where the Hirer does not return the equipment at the end of the hire period,
the Company reserves the right to charge the Hirer at the following daily rate of
hire. The daily rate will be calculated as one sixth of the 6 to 12 day rate specified
in the Company’s current season’s brochure up to the replacement cost of the
equipment, as specified in paragraph "2" above, together with any legal fees or
associated recovery costs.
8.2)With the introduction of our French Delivery service the hirer must return the
stock hired to the correct county location, as this stock is accounted for and need-
ed by that country for future bookings. Charges will be levied to the hirer if
equipment is not returned to the correct location.
9.It is not the Company's responsibility to ensure that the equipment is put on the
correct carrier after the hirer has collected it from the Company. The Company ac-
cepts no liability for any charges levied by tour operators, airlines, or other organi-
sations, for the carriage of equipment.
10. Bindings:-The Company's technicians set bindings strictly in accordance with
the manufacturer's recommendations. If the hirer wishes an alternative binding set-
ting from that recommended by the manufacturer, then he/she accepts full liability
for any accident arising from such alteration. It is the Hirer’s responsibility to en-
sure that the binding settings remain correctly adjusted before using the equip-
ment. If you are not sure what settings your bindings should be set at, please ask
the Company's staff, or ask a qualified technician in a resort shop. You should not
attempt to alter ski bindings yourself.
11. Roof Boxes.Roof Rack & Car Chains:- It is the Hirer’s responsibility to ensure
that these items are correctly fitted to the appropriate vehicle & remain properly
fitted during the period of hire. Where members of the Company's staff assist the
Hirer with fitting such equipment to a vehicle, this will be entirely at the Hirer's risk
and the Company accepts no liability for any damage caused either to the vehicle
or third parties as a result of fitting such equipment. Clients who are unfamiliar with
how to fit snowchains,are strongly advised to practice fitting them before leaving
the United Kingdom.
12. Deposits:-The Company reserves the right to demand a deposit from any hir-
er at any time up to and including the Hirer collecting the equipment from the Com-
pany. The amount of such deposit is to be at the absolute discretion of the
Company. The Company reserves the right to refuse to hire equipment to any cli-
ent with whom it does not wish to enter into a contractual relationship. The Compa-
ny reserves the right to cancel a contract at any time & without notice, whereupon
it will refund to the hirer any monies paid. Following such a refund, no further liabili-
ty will exist between the hirer & the Company.
13.Save as provided in these conditions & to the extent that the exclusion or re-
striction of liability may be prohibited by statute, the Company will not be liable for
any loss,damage or injury caused, directly or indirectly by the equipment or its use.
Your statutory rights are not affected.
14.We are registered under the Data Protection Act.
